I wanted to share some pictures a friend took for us last weekend of the family. Below is a picture of my daughter on the left and her best friend Katie.....above is Justin!

I just love the one of my daughter, Breanne. It is hard to believe that in two weeks she will be celebrating her 18th birthday! This one was taken in our backyard......not much snow for February....I can tell you that makes me happy and so do these pictures! I love these! Hope you enjoy them too! Have a wonderful week!

My card sure reminds me of spring lilacs that come out in June....but looking out my window there is nothing spring about it! Oh hurry spring, we need some warmth and some sunshine! I have been hit by the Kittie Kraft bug. I thought I would try and venture out and try my hand at doing something that reminded me of lilacs! I am teaching a class at Stamping Bella using this technique. My last post was one of the cards we will be doing and now I have added this card to the class. Sure hope those that attend enjoy doing these as much as I do...LOL! Oh heck, anyone that loves to make cards totally understands this crazy hobby!

I am totally inspired by Kitties blog.....what she does with punches is just amazing. So with her blessings she has totally inspired me to try things she does! Wowzers I tell ya...I am addicted to this now! Thank-you Kittie! I am going to teach a class doing this card at Stamping Bella in February, I sure hope the ladies enjoy this as much as I have. I have placed an adorable little Izzie has a Prezzie from Stamping Bella in the center! Oh she is too cute.... I have used prismas pencils to colour her up and added lots of glitter...I tell ya...this girl loves her glitter.

Oh my were did 2011 go....I must say for our family, it has been a very busy year! So this year I am hoping that things might slow down just a little...highly unlikely though!LOL I guess that is a good thing! I want to wish all of you a Wonderful New Year!

Now don't laugh, but I was trying to make a little ice rink for Skating Tilda...I just love her. I may try something again on another card....

White Christmas.....

Today it has been an absolutely gorgeous day outside....no snow in sight....which is great for me. But hopefully for Christmas it will be a white one! I must tell you, my creative side has not been working for me lately....so I have been a little frustrated to say the least! Today I did an easel card using the adorable little Whimsy Stamps. I also hand drew the trees to look alot like the Magnolia trees that I love so much. I need to order those....I love them, and it would be a heck of alot easier then drawing them! I used distress inks to colour the images and added lots of glitter.

Well, I am off to for a walk with the dog so I can enjoy a little of this wonderful sunshine. Have a wonderful day!

Winter has arrived here in Ontario, not so much snow but very cold! Not long before the snow will be falling and the little ones can start making their snowman! I made this card a couple of days ago using the new paper from My Minds Eye....love it.....I even used it to paper piece his hat and scarf....added lots of glitter too! It is part of my class I will be teaching at Stamping Bella.

Amazing I tell ya....we woke up to a snow and now I am totally motivated. I knew I had Christmas cards to make and cookies to bake and the last couple of weeks with it being so nice out I have not been ready yet, well, that all changed today!LOL

I teach classes at Stamping Bella and Saturday is another class I am really looking forward too, so I thought I would make some Shortbread cookies to freeze and also to take for the ladies to have a little sampling! Hopefully Helen will have the Christmas music going to really put us into the festive mood! How can you go wrong....Christmas cards to make and holiday music, some cookies and all is good!

I want you to meet Polar Phil....he is a new addition to my stamping addiction and I thought he would do just fine on my recipe card! I think he is quite pleased to have a spot on my card! He is from the Art Impressions Line. Oh I love this little guy! I also need to thank my friend Susan who was kind and bought me some Martha Stewart paper....I love that too....I think my other addiction is paper! Thank-you Susan, I love this paper!

Christmas Gifts...Notepads

Yesterday I decided it was time to get cracking at some Christmas gifts that I wanted to get done. So out came all the craftiness that I had in me and away I went.....I love making notepads to place on gifts and this year this is what I came up with. I also do classes at Stamping Bella so I will definetly be doing this as a project! I used my all time favourite kraft cardstock to create the cover for my notepads, and some My Minds Eye paper, and then used Stamping Bellas image called "Artsy House"...oh I love this country house for my notepads!

Embossed Christmas Tags....

I am starting to get a little nervous, my Christmas cards are not started and I have only started a few Christmas tags! Deep breath Christine, you can do this!LOL

I took some Stamping Bella stamps and some Penny Black stamps and brought them into my tag making! I took a Basic Grey stamp called, Flower Dot Pattern and embossed it with white embossing powder to make the main part of the tag.....and it worked...yahoo. I was not sure how it would turn out!

Snowman Frenzy...

Oh what it is to play with new fabric! Yes, a little trip to the fabric store and away I go. I made these adorable little Snowman Chocolate Bar Wrappers last year and they were a hit, so I decided to make some this year to put on the top of gifts. I am hoping to make homemade wrapping paper to match. May have to post that one day too! I got this template at Laurie's Blog . Thank-you Laurie.

With this little project I wanted to do a card to match. I also wanted to do a little stitching on the card to resemble wind swirls of snow....I think it worked pretty good. I just drew the swirls with a soft pencil and then pierced holes where the lines were, then used embroidery thread and feed it thru with a needle.

A little glitter to finish up the card, and we are done. Another Christmas card to add to my not so fast growing collection. I must get cracking! Have a wonderful day and hopefully you get into your craft room!

Welcome November....

Well, November brings us the much cooler air, the shorter days and the countdown to the first snowfall. Not looking forward to the snow coming. For my calendar today I played with those adorable images from Whimsey Stamps! I just think they are so precious. I have been so busy lately with family life and teaching classes at Stamping Bella that it has not left a whole lot of time for personal crafting! So today I am very behind posting my November page!

I must tell you, my love is the distress inks and that is what I brought out to colour my image today. Now, I know it does not reflect the season....but I just wanted to bring a little colour and prettiness to my Calendar, after all, I have to look at it for a month!
Now there are a few of us that love to do these calendar pages....so if you would like to take a peak and see what Monique, Kathryn, Julie, Tangii and Lisa have done to their calendars I have them linked up! Let it snow....Christmas CARD!

Today was such a cold and very wet day.......so I did a little road trip so I could get some inspiration out in the crafty world. Just take a visit to various scrapbooking stores, talk to other crafters and you have the makings for some creativity to feed the soul!

I wanted to make a circular card using my nestibilites and some new paper I just bought today. My new paper is Jingle by lily bee design.....oh it just spells winter. Not that I want to rush old man winter here...but wintery cards are so pretty! I then pulled out a Stamping Bella stamp I have not used for quite some time called "hat and MITTS". I stamped the image and then cut out the mitt image, placed some liquid applique ( which I totally love to use this time of year) on the mitt cuffs! Then I stamped Let it snow all the way around the circle.

How are you all making out with your Christmas card collection? I am so far behind, but not for long. I must have a day dedicated to just Christmas cards! Bring on the Christmas images, the glitter, liquid applique, prismas or copics and you have a start to CHRISTMAS CARDS!

Christmas Tag Holder and Tags.....

I have started to prepare for the holiday season that is for sure. I wanted to be very organized and less stressed this year....so I made this christmas tag holder to hold my christmas tags. Stamping Bella had a new release this month and I fell in love with these darling ladies

so I incorporated them into my holder.
Here is a little peak at the inside of the holder....I made a little pocket inside to hold my tags!

I made a few so far, but I will be making many more to go on to my gifts!

Krafty Christmas....

I know , I know...a little early perhaps for Christmas card posts, but I do like to get a head start on things! I love working with kraft cardstock and thought this new line of paper that Stamping Bella just got in was perfect to use with it. It is called, Generations...simple stories. For me, it looks like quilting fabric. Yes, I do love to quilt, but this card making hobby has taken over!

I took kraft cardstock and ran it thru the cuttlebug using the snowflakes die, then rubbed Versa Magic, cloud white over the snowflakes so they would really stand out. I think it addes a nice effect. I coloured this Polar Bear Circle, from Stamping Bella with prismas and then added lots of glitter....you can never have enough glitter on a card!

This card I did a little paper piecing just to change things up a little and give it just a little dimension.
I used "frosty" from Stamping Bella on this card.

Snowman Circle from Stamping Bella was used on this card. I just love the snowman images....you guessed it, that is my weakness....the SNOWMAN! The lacey ribbon you see is from Stamping Bella as well. Oh my..I am totally in love with this. It just looks so victorian to me.

Keeping with the snowman theme here is "snowman with a birdie top" another Stamping Bella favourite! Oh I love this one. So country, so cute!

It feels so good to get some of my Christmas cards started...many more to get done. I also have been teaching some classes at Stamping Bella which has been so fun. A little busy I must say, but fun! These cards will be part of some of the classes I will be doing.....I hope the ladies enjoy these ones as much as I have enjoyed creating them!

Potato Pizza Recipe Card....

Pizza Night is Friday night at the Dol House, so when a friend gave me this recipe to try I jumped all over it. So last Friday we made Potato Pizza and let me tell you....Delicious! Very easy to prepare and VERY good! The kids have now officially declared this the pizza to make, not the traditional one. So we know it is kid approved!
Now, with a new recipe comes a new recipe card. You will be seeing more recipe cards as the days get much shorter and colder. I love to make those comfort foods, as this girl does not like winter too much!lol Lots of copics used on this one! Love the image of the two brothers!
Here it is displayed on top of the recipe booklet I am going to place it into!

September Calendar.....

I finally found a chance to get my calendar page posted.....please forgive me. Things have been so crazy and hectic around the Dol house that other things seem to just take priority. I have been the worse blogger these days, but I do promise I will get back to visiting and posting. Once those cool fall days come....hibernation will start!LOL. Big apology to Monique who organizes these calendar postings....I feel so badly for not posting much sooner.
Deb, Jane and Dena, thank-you for introducing me to these little girls....oh I just love them! I could hardly wait to use the distress inks on this cutie. She is just darling in my eyes.

My pictures are really bad but I took them late at night which is not the best! Now one thing I wanted to mention is if you do a calendar page each month just let me know and you can join Monique, Julie, Lisa, Tangii , Danni and I each month. I so love seeing the wonderful pages they do! It gives me lots of ideas for the next calendar! Lots of inspiration to share with each other!

porch facelift......

I am so disappointed that I have not been on my blog a little more often then I have.. But things have been a little busy this summer at the Dol House! I so wanted to get this card made and into the mail for some time. Finally, it is done! I so love this image from LOTV. I am so addicted to that stamping line! I used distress inks to colour this cutie and totally love the colours...the pinks and the greens are a colour combo I really love together!

My wicker chairs on my porch were in need of a facelift. So this morning I headed off to a fabric store in need of some pretty fabric.....oh I am so pleased with this little facelift! So summery, so me! Plaids and flowers...yummy! Nothing like some new pillows to make a girl feel good. Besides making cards and baking, sewing is another hobby I love!

Blogging Friends....

Last week I made a special card for a special blogging friend. I have to say something about blogging friends....they are the kindest, sweetest, creative people, and the most helpful when called upon for guidance when using a product you have never used before. Thank-you Dena! In my little world of cardmaking I have met the most awesome people, but in my blog world their are so many I would love to meet in person. I would love to spend a day creating my little heart out.....learning from the best out there!
My gift card holder is one that I made for a special blogging friend. I mailed it off to her on Monday, so here's hoping she will receive my gift to her this week. I made up this card holder so it could hold my gift card from Michaels! Yahooo!

I don't want to rush summer away, but it seems that once August hits the days get little by little shorter, then the kids head back to school. Yuck...I think I will just enjoy the days we have left of our wonderful summer. Say hello to August.....I just love this little Tilda looking over her shoulder at the butterfly. I coloured her with copics and used some new papers from K& Company. My blogging friends Monique, Danni, Kathryn, Julie, Tangil and Lisa have even joined in with this calendar page fun!

Strawberry Season...

A dreary day and busy kids has allowed me to sneak away into my craftroom and play. Here in Ontario it is strawberry season....I have yet to get out and pick strawberries this year because of the weather but hopefully next week. I love making strawberry/rhubarb pie and strawberry jam.

Kraft cardstock is my one of my favourites to play with when making cards. I took a sizzix template I bought around Valentines day at the Michaels Arts and Crafts store and embossed the top of the card and the bottom, cut along the bottom and the top, then I popped it up. I used the Fancy Tags Spellbinders die and stamped the picnic basket on top. Coloured with copics and popped it up too.

Precious Moments....

You will have to forgive the quality of the photos...just when I was ready to take the pictures the skies got darker and darker and now we are in for a thunderstorm at any moment, you can hear the rumbles.

Today I wanted to make a card for our neighbours that are moving away to another town. I will miss them very much. I wanted a special card, so I when I saw Norma's Criss Cross Card on her blog I thought it was perfect. Annette has a great tutorial on how to make these here!

When I was a little girl I used to collect these Precious Moments figures. How darling are they!

I coloured both images up with copics and shaded with a prisma pencil, Slate Blue.

Remembering the days....

...of little Strawberry Shortcake! My daughter used to collect these figures and when I saw these little cuties I new I had to colour her up. I googled the colouring book section on Strawberry Shortcake and tones of colouring pages came up...but this one stole my heart!

Things have been so busy around the Dol house that not alot of crafting has been going on. With summer days upon us here ( officially on June 21st) I love being outside and that does not allow alot of time to craft. I appreciate your visits here as I know things are probaly just as busy at your home! I hope you have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Fathers Day!

Recipe for a picnic.....

Does anyone do picnics anymore? I remember packing up the kids and off we would go to the beach and do a huge picnic......eat and swim is what we did. Now that they are older it is different adventures, but I sooo miss it! But I still love the idea of heading off to a picnic. So with that in mind I love the idea of Cheese Cake in a jar...Hello! Full of yummy goodness! I think this would be fantastic by the campfire, come on, eating your very own scrumptious cheese cake. I think it might be better then smores!lol

I added this little recipe card to the recipe booklet! Yahoooo.....guess what I am making for this weekend.
Make graham crust according to the directions on the box. I just spooned about 1/2 cup of the filling into the jar, then added some E.D. Smith cherry pie filling to the top....as much as you like is good! Refrigerate for a few hours, then enjoy your very own cheese cake!

Recipe card using distress inks....

Today I am preparing for my distress ink class at Stamping Bella. I can hardly wait to share my love of those inks to all that come tomorrow. I think they will be hooked for sure! I am sure with all the fun we will have, we will all be a little hungry and need a little treat to tie us over. So I baked some Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins for all. And of course....I HAD to make a recipe card!
Just bought a Penny Black image last week and stamped this little "Flutter-bye" up, using VersaFina Onyx Black ink. My album is still quite empty...so more recipe cards to come!

This summer I am going to have another class making these recipe cards, at Stamping Bella! I think this will be alot of fun..sharing old time favourite recipes and then making them into keepsake recipe cards. A recipe booklet that would be so fun to receive.You should see the ones I had...lots of scribbled recipes on old pieces of paper.

I want to thank-you all for your sweet comments. They mean so much to me. I know how busy we all get and it is so hard to find the time sometimes to visit blogs......so thank-you!

Something a little different....

My son's friend has a birthday coming up next month. He is a pro dirtbiker. So what to do! Well I decided to wing it...and by winging it I mean winging it. I took a picture of him practicing this week and went to work from there. I hand drew a picture of him. His dirtbike is orange so I wanted to bring only a hint of this to the image. I first drew the image in pencil and shaded slightly, then added a black marker to some areas. With 3 shades of oranges (using lyra pencils) I coloured in his bike. I then used blue slate and indigo blue to shade all around the image. Whew..it worked! The last time I ever drew anything was in my art class in grade 12....so I was so happy it worked.

I wanted to wish my sister-in-law Lisa, a Happy Nurses Day which is May the 6th! I saw this adorable image from Pairie Fairy Designs that I thought was sooo cute! I coloured her with copics and added a little liquid applique to her glasses, which makes them look like actual glass!

Another month or so and it will be time to pick strawberries...I can hardly wait.That means strawberry jam, strawberry pie, strawberry shortcake and a little strawberries on the vanilla icecream! So with this thought in my mind I made an easel card for the Teddy Bo Challenge Blog! The challenge this week is EASELCARDS!

I wanted to have some fun with these cuties...which I am totally addicted to! I stamped them and then coloured with copics, cut them out and used acetate behind them to pop them up.I went a little crazy with the pop up thing....popped the tree, the fence and the picnic basket that I stamped from Papertrey's stamp set, Vintage Picnic.

I wanted to share a Mother's Day Card and some knitted dishcloths I have been working on. I coloured up this adorable Penny Black image with copics. I have been neglecting my copics...and it showed today. I find when you do not use them for a while, I actually forget a little how to make them work!

Knitted Dishcloths (6mm- US-10 Knitting Needles)

Cast on 4 sts.
1st row- Knit

2nd row- K1. Inc. 1 st in next st.

Knit to end of row.

Rep. last row to 49 sts.

Next row- K2. Knit 2 together. Knit to end of row.

Rep. last row to last 4 sts. Cast off.

Someone gave me some knitted dishcloths last year and I absolutely love them. So I had to make some of my own, and had then had a few requests for some! A tested product you are truly going to love to have!
Off to enjoy some of the sunshine this afternoon...have an absolutely wonderful afternoon!

I had a little fun with this calendar page....I used Daisy from Sugar Nellie stamps. I cut a little grass for her to sit in...punched out the fence and added a few sponged clouds.Oh don't you just wish you could be her right now...not a care in the world!

Sweet little card....

I would like to thank sweet Denise for sharing her love of the Penny Black stamps on her blog.....it is ALL her fault that I have fallen hard for these little stamps! She works her magic with these stamps and makes the most beautiful cards. I love when you do an all white card and just work with an image. I love an image to come alive! I coloured this sweet little guy with copics and with prismas, added a little glitter and embossed my background with little flowers.

I must apologize for the lack of posts and the lack of visits...life just seems to get so busy. But I hope to get back at the card making again...as it is just something I love so much! I also hope to do some more visiting as that is definetly were I get my inspiration...heck...you think I think of all this stuff up on my own..no way...it's all of you that give me so much to take in and try!

Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a Happy Easter! No craftiness going on here....we are off to Gopher Dunes in Woodstock Ontario to tackle the tracks out there with our son and his friend! Good family fun!

I have just fallen in love with distress inks...and can hardly wait to share my passion at Stamping Bella on May 18th. Emily has invited me to teach a class at Stamping Bella and I am absolutely thrilled...a little nervous as I have never taught a class before. But with some wonderful hints from my blogging friend Dena I should be good to go! I truly believe if your heart is in it, you can accomplish anything! Thank-you Emily for letting me share my love of Distress inks with those who want to get hooked!

Now...over at Teddy Bo they have a challenge for us...tags! I could hardly wait to get started on this card. First off...I am totally in love with this line of stamps and second....love tags on a card, or even inside a pocket of a card!

I got out my Tim Holtz distress inks for this card! Lots of stitching...which I love to do.
I just bought these cute little punches to make my daisy like flowers (one of my all time

favourite flowers).

Mother's Day card...

Mother Nature was so good to us yesterday...it was just gorgeous here! Our family did lots of yard work and lots of fun things. How could you pass up such a beautiful day.Now today it looks like it is going to rain, but that is ok. We need the rain to green up all the grass!

You will have to forgive my photos, as the room was so dark when I took these pictures. I am trying so hard to get ahead of the game with cards that I need to get done. Mother's Day is not until the middle of May but I when my LOTV stamps arrived last week I new the image I wanted to use. So I got out the distress inks and played with this adorable little stamp set!

Summer Porch...

Oh how I long for the summer breezes to pass thru my front screen door! It won't be long, thank goodness! I have seen a few out in blog land making these adorable little screen door cards, so I wanted to try to make my own. So off to the hardware store to buy a roll of screen, and then I searched thru my templates to find something that resembles a patterned screen door. I had to cut out the squares with a knife and then add the screen in between.

My little Hanglar is watercoloured with Stampin Up inks. I left the inside blank so Icould write something inside!

Ella lollipop....

Does Mother Nature not realize it is officially spring now here in Ontario... It seems she thinks it is still winter. The wind is so cold and no sun....darn....we need some nice temperatures here!

I have fallen in love with these cute images. I bought this at Stamping Bella,she is called Ella lollipop. A rather simple card using the spellbinders die to make the base of the card. I just cut out two dies and then glued them together at the top. I coloured Miss Ella with prisma pencils, and had to add a little glitter around her!

April has arrived and with that comes a new calendar page! I love these little teddies and wanted to use this sweetie for my calendar layout. I coloured her all up with copics and added a little glitter to her wings! I just received my order of flowers from Wild Orchids a couple of days ago and was really excited to use them on a project!

There are a few blogging friends that have taken to making calendar pages too...Monique, Kathryn and Tangii have all hopped on the calendar page fun!

The weekend is here...yahoo! It is time for another Sweet Stop Sketches challenge.

I have really not been making alot of cards lately as things here have been so busy, so when I sat down to create this card I had a really hard time colouring up this little cutie. I actually struggled to colour...wow....I could not believe how I had forgotten to colour. I thought it was like riding a bike, you never forget! For this image I used copics AND prismas.

Well we are off to look at trailers to pull my sons dirtbike to the tracks this summer. Seems he wants to really get into racing. Not to sure I am sold on that idea. Hockey was one thing, but racing dirtbikes....whole new can of worms. Oh Summer....I can hardly wait.

I must apologize for the lack of posts lately...things have just been a little crazy around here. We have enjoyed a wonderful March Break with the kids...but it does not allow for much crafting time. We are also still in the middle of renovations still, but hopefully by the middle of spring we will be close to being finished....I will be so grateful to have it all completed. It is a project we have taken on since last April. My hubby is the contracter and also has his own contracting business, so you can just imagine how low on the list our house is!!!! But the end result will be so wonderful! Thank-you hubby for making my vision come true!

March has come in like a lamb, so I think it may go out like a lion! I heard we are in for a late and very wet spring..oh that does not make me happy. I sure hope they are completely wrong. In the fall, hubby made me this wonderful wooden calendar holder so I could create new calendar pages for each month.
I have totally fallen in love with LOTV stamps and use them when ever I can. These two little friends sharing a swing is just too cute I thought for my March page. I used distress inks and added a little glitter.....

Just when I thought that I had enough cute stamps in my inventory, I find another lot of cute stamps I must have! Are you like that too! I just bought these adorable Teddy Bo digital images and thought I would make a recipe card so I could enter the Teddy Bo challenge this week. The theme is: Duck Egg Blue and Chocolate

I made these cookies yesterday and they were definetly a hit. I had a couple of recipes for chocolate chip oatmeal cookies but they were not the best...so I tweaked a few things and came up with this one! Hope you like!

We woke up this morning with lots of snow that had fallen overnight..yuck! I am really ready for spring. Today Korin over at Sweet Stop Sketches Challenge blog has a great sketch for us.

I certainly had spring on my mind when I did this card...I pulled out the C.C.Designs stamps and did some masking so that the fence could go in behind. I coloured her with distress inks...which I just love to play with!

For a Very Special Girl....

Next week my daughter will be having her 17th birthday! Wow...where oh where did the time go. I hate that she is not that little girl with the pigtails, running around without a care in the world. Now she seems to be wanting her own space...meaning that now HER FRIENDS are the center of her world!LOL Well, to me she will always be my special girl.

I pulled out my beloved distress inks for this little hanglar. Now, I don't have alot of colours, so I went and ordered a whole bunch from Stampin Up. Oh I can hardly wait to play with some new colours. I don't know if you can tell, but her little shirt does not match my cardstock. I really do like things all matchy..but I just did not have the colours....hopefully my new order will help me out!

Hello Everyone and Happy Valentines Day....When I saw this adorable LOTV stamp I new I had to have it. I am so happy to have purchased it...this image is just way too cute I think. I have seen a few people doing these cards that are all white except for the image and find them really nice. So I thought I would have a go doing a step-fold-card. Pam has a fantastic template on her blog.

I just bought these templates from Michaels a couple of weeks ago in the Valentine's section. I thought it would be so fitting to use it on my card today. I added just a hint of glitter around the edge and coloured the image with copics.
Here is a picture showing the side view! This is for someone very special today!

This is my last week to be a guest at Lovely Hanglar Only...they have asked for this challenge to be: Take Two!
Now with this one you can really get your creative juices going. They only thing they ask, please use at least two hanglar stanglar images on your project/card.

I had this idea in my head to have my card open with a fence, with a little hanglar in behind! I had a little masking to do with this idea...but I loved doing it. I used distress inks to colour this all up. If you have ever wanted to colour with distress inks...check out Dena's blog. She has an amazing video to help you out!

When you open up the card I left a little spot to write a little message.

Oh my goodness...it has been a week since I last posted a card. It has been a very busy couple of weeks and I just have not had time to get to the craft table. I did however get a card made for the wonderful
Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge.

This time of year our lake is just buzzing with ice fisherman. Not my cup of tea to be out in sub zero temperatures, but they come up from the states and all over to take part in this sport. So for my card today I thought it to be very fitting for this time of year!

I turned the sketch around to accomodate my idea and used the Gone Fishin Digi Stamp. I cut out the whole image so I could place the images on the snow banks.Coloured them with copics.

Welcome February....I am not too sure whether I want to welcome February...we are in for a major snowstorm to start the new month!
I bought this cute little Pure Innocence stamp in December called "Sending you a little Christmas" but chose to make it a little Valentine's stamp...There was this little Christmas tree in her sled which I changed to a little sled full of hearts. I also just bought this Sizzix embossing folder at Michaels last week, in the Valentine's section and thought it was just too cute to pass up and use on my calendar page and my recipe card.

I made Hermit Cookies for the kids this weekend and made a recipe card to go into the recipe booklet.I have had a few of you ask where I store my recipe cards. I bought this recipe booklet, that resembles a photo album, from Chapters (a local book store). It has two clear slots per page to slid in each 4x6 recipe card.It comes with recipe cards but I love trying to make my own!

I really like that they are protected by the clear package so when you are baking you don't make a mess on your recipe cards!

Someone very special sent me these adorable little Penny Black mice so I could use them to make my hubby a Valentine's Card. I adore these two and thought they would be perfect for my card!

I coloured them as softly as I could using copics.

The weekend is here and it is time for another Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge! Here in Ontario we have been experiencing lots of snow and VERY cold temperatures. I really am tired of winter and wanted to make something that reminded me of spring...so let me introduce you to Berry Sweet Cocoa! I just love the simplicity of this sketch, with the scallop edge in the middle. I tucked sweet Cocoa into the grass which I cut myself until I am able to find the MS grass punch at Michaels. I am hoping they will bring it in this spring. I coloured sweet Cocoa with copics and shaded around the edge with a prisma pencil in slate blue.

This morning I am supposed to be heading out for an all day crop at a scrapbooking store. Old man winter is bringing us lots of snow this morning so my drive will be less then fun! What we will do to craft! Before I head out, here is a card I made for this week's Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge. The stamp I used is Lilacs for Cocoa (reminds me of spring) that is available at Sweetn'Sassy Stamps.

One thing I really liked about the sketch this week was the fact the background should be embossed. Sometimes I forget to try different things for my cards.

Little Hanglar.....

Things have been so busy around the Dol House!!!! Just your usual things....kids, laundry, taxi services and our house renovations....that my crafting time has just taken a back seat, which I really do miss. My niece has a 2nd birthday coming up so I really wanted to make her a special card.
Out came this adorable little Hanglar. I coloured her all up with copics and drew up some balloons, cut them out,coloured them and then added LOTS of glitter. I thought I would try using a new MS corner heart punch for around the circle.I think it adds a little flare. I punched them out and just cut them so I could glue them all around the circle.

It's time for another Sweet Stop Sketch challenge. I choose the Smiley Snowman digital stamp. I stamped the snow with a sentiment and then embossed it with white embossing powder. I placed liquid pearls in the center of the snowflakes. Before Christmas I made some jingle bells for tags and cards and had some left over to use for my card today!

Hanglar Box....

I have been working on this little box totally inspired by Norma, for my daughters birthday coming up in February. Norma has wonderful directions you can follow, which made things really easy. Her advent box is just stunning, so you will definetly be in for a treat if you check it out.

The Lovely Hanglar Challenge blog this week has a recipe: 3 flowers, 2 brads and 1 ribbon. I thought this would fit in perfectly for the challenge!

Time to turn the calendar page.....January here we come! A new year and a new month. Which means lots of new creations instore! I must admit, I am not a fan of old man winter so January can go by as quickly as possible.

When I think of January, I think of all the winter sports I USED to do. I used to love skiing but have not gone in quite some time. I have really been considering getting back at it again. I may have to convince my son to tag along with me. I can see us now.....lol!

Snowman Treat!

Well by now you must know my love affair with the snowman! Well I thought I would try this out. I made my marshmellow holder using white chocolate that I melted and then dipped a balloon (blown up very small) . I then froze the dipped chocolate balloon for an hour then took it out of the freezer so I could carefully remove the balloon. I then melted orange chocolate waffers to make a carrot nose, melted dark chocolate waffers to make the coal mouth and eyes! I even went a little crazy and did this to the mug!

I know I know...I just love to do anything snowman like!

This time of year is when I do alot of Christmas baking. I love making cookies and squares but last night I thought I would try out an old recipe I had....Carrot Cake! This recipe was passed along to me from my grandma so now I pass it along to you!

I also have been working on my recipe booklet that is coming along quite well. So here I have made another recipe card to add to the booklet!

I took a picture of the carrot cake so you could see how yummy it turned out!LOL

Winter Wonderland has a perfect challenge this week (thanks Danielle!) which is: Wrap It Up!

So for this challenge I decided that I wanted to make a special card to hold money which is intended for someone special this year.

The spotted chick had this amazing idea for a money holder so I just followed her directions and voila I had one more thing on the TO DO LIST...done! I am trying to get a few more little things done before Friday. I am not quite that organized this year..... I hope I am not alone!LOL

I have been having problems making comments on peoples blogs and loading any pictures on my blog. I had my computer into the repair shop, but it seems that it was just blogger acting up!

I wanted to share another Christmas card I made using a new stamp I just bought! It is a Penny Black stamp, called "Merry Kissmas"....Thanks Denise for showing us your wonderful cards using Penny Black stamps!

I embossed the snowflakes on the cardstock and then just coloured up my image using Prisma pencil crayons.

Letters to Santa....

Oh my it is sooo cold here...the wind is just a blowing...and it 24 below O with the wind! Oh I am not enjoying this weather. Hubby and I are heading out tomorrow morning at 4 to take our daughter to the airport. She is headed to Orlando, Florida for 2 weeks! My son is in Cuba right now with his grandpa and having a great time! Oh to be somewhere warm!

I absolutely love this little image from Elisabeth Bell's Digital Gallery! It is called Letter's to Santa! I coloured her with copics and coloured a little in blue using prisma pencils! As you can maybe see in my picture...I used LOTS of glitter on her hat and the snow!

This is me looking out my window today!LOL We have lots and lots of snow! It sure looks like it is going to be a white Christmas after all. My son has left for Cuba with my dad for a week. A wonderful birthday present for him. Today is his 14th birthday! Lucky him, he gets to look at white sandy beaches and I get to look at white snow!

Home for the holidays...

I just wanted to post one of my Christmas cards before I go out and shovel all the snow off the walk-way and the drive-way! We received tons of snow last night. It actually looks really pretty, but by January we are all quite tired of it!!!
For my card I bought this cute QuicKutz embossing folder which I just fell in love with. After embossing the card I cut out the squares so it resembled a window! The bottom picture is the inside of the card! Lots of glitter around the edges...boy my crafting room has never seen so much glitter this holiday season!

I had this Hanglar swag that I coloured with copics and then cut it out and glued it to the nestie! I left a little room to write a personal message!

Any Hockey Fanatics...

A few years back I took hockey jerseys from each of the boys on my son's hockey team and made them into shorts! Every year they get new hockey jerseys and they seem to pile up...so I did a little fiddling around and came up with hockey shorts! They were a hit! Well a couple of days ago a mom asked if I would do a set for her little guy for Christmas! Sure......

I attached this little tag I made using a Quickutz soccer jersey die that I turned into a hockey jersey, using the team colours! I then carefully cut out this little guys number that is on his jersey. Then I printed his name on the back as well!

The right leg is the team logo and on the left leg it reveals his number and his last name! I sure hope he likes them!

Oh I was so pleased to see Winter Wonderlands challenge this week.....Penguins and Polar Bears!
I thought I would create a card using my circle nestability dies to make some cute little polar bears! I see so many using the circuit or punches to create the cutest animals....so I thought I would try and see if I could make some polar bears snuggling in the snow!

The snow in the background is using the liquid applique, which I really think I am addicted to right now. The edges of the polar bears I sponged with a soft brown chalk and then added a little glitter to their fur. I then stitched around my card with my handy sewing machine! I am so glad that I am able to add this to my Christmas card collection.

Today I would love to share with you another Christmas card and a recipe card for Potatoe-Cheese Soup. I made it on the weekend and it was a hit! Good and healthy! Also, Stamping Bella has a challenge this week: SNOW

I used a Mo Manning image, which can be purchased at Stamping Bella! The image is called, Who Me? The little penguin is just an image that I had and added...aside from loving anything snowman...any penguin image is adorable to me too!

Here is the recipe card I made to add to my growing recipe binder.

Potatoe-Cheese Soup

In a large saucepan, melt butter. Saute onions and celery until tender. Add broth, cut up potatoes and add pepper and fresh parsley. Cover and simmer until potatoes are tender.Turn off heat, then stir in milk that has been mixed with 4 tablespoons cornstarch.Put heat on low. Stir in grated cheese.Just heat until cheese starts to melt and the broth thickens. Serve with a salad and a french bread stick.....Enjoy!

Earlier this year hubby made me this wooden calendar stand. I truly love to decorate the calendar pages for each month with the templates Cat has provided. You can find them HERE. I used one of my new Penny Black stamps which I thought would be perfect for this time of year and it also went really well with the back ground paper!

I am really hoping to get a little more organized with some Christmas cards and tags. I seem to be a little behind this year....so I really need to get going!

I was at Michaels Arts and Crafts store the other day and saw they had some cute little felt pocket gift cards that I thought would be cute.So I came home and started to fiddle around a little and made these paper gift card holders. I really like the gift card idea for the really hard to buy for...but I do not like to just stick them into a card...so what better way then to make a gift card holder.

They measure up to:4 1/4 high and 3" wide. I took a sheet of cardstock measuring 9" x 4 1/4" and scored it at 3" and 6". Then I cut the last square on an angle. The band that goes around the holder is 6 3/4" x 1 1/2" and that is glued together to hold it all together.

Now the fun part is just to pick some images that you would love to ink up. I am hoping to get a few more made, even for Birthday and Valentine's Day. I know I could have just bought the felt ones at Michaels but heck...I thought it would be fun to make my own!

Snowmen Chocolate Bars...

I wanted to do up some cute little gifts to put into the kids stockings and to just have for gifts for some friends and neighbours. You know my love affair with the snowman so, I found these cutie snowmen that are snuggley in their hats and scarfs! This original design and template came from Laurie Furnell! I mean how cute is this....you take a Hershey chocolate bar and wrap him all up!

Now you can use felt, polar fleece, I have even seen someone knit up some real cute hats. I would have loved to do that, but I could not find a pattern small enough to fit these chocolate bars...and really this was a little quicker!

Hopefully you are keeping nice and warm...as it is quite cold here! Hat and scarf weather that is for sure!

A trip to the ice rink....

I needed another Birthday card for someone special this month. So what is more fun then to bring Tilda out to play! I must tell you, other then hockey one of my favourite sports is figure skating. When I was a kid I just loved to skate....the only thing I did not like was when you got to the pond having to tie up your skates in the cold.
When I was at Scrapfest this fall I found these adorable little stamps from Dear Izzy. In the stamp set it included these adorable little skates. I had to have those. I attached a piece of string to make it look like her laces.

I just love finishing the inside of my cards if time permits. I had just bought this newly released snowman stamp from Great Impressions stamps and thought he would be just perfect for the inside!

Little Friend...

I must say, Mother Nature is being so kind to us today. It is so beautiful out today, that it is so hard to believe that out in Western Canada the temperatures are so frigid! I know it is on it's way!

My mother-in-laws birthday is coming up in December, so I was quite anxious to make a card for her. We have so many birthday's just before Christmas that I find it so overwhelming at times....so today was the day to sit down and get some of my cards done! I saw that Janiel had made a beautiful card that I wanted to try out so badly. If you have not seen here creations, oh boy, are you in for a treat!

I had this stamp called Little Friend from Flower Soft that I was itching to colour up. So I used a combination of copics and prisma pencil crayons for her. I also placed lots of glitter for her hat and the snow.

This is the inside of the card that you just pull out of the pocket card. I left some room on the nestability die to write a personal message!

A couple of weeks ago I made some jingle bells from just plain jingle bells that I sprayed with cream spray paint from the local hardware store, and then once they were dry I painted them with glue and then sprinkled some glitter on them....voila...a nice little embellishment!

Christmas Cookie Tin...

I love to bake lots of Christmas cookies and hand them out to friends and family during the holiday season. So when I saw these cute little tins at the dollar store I could not resist decorating them up for the festive season!

I have a stamp set from Sunshine Designs that has 4 different images of houses, so I stamped some houses in row and coloured them with copics, added lots of liquid applique for snow, then cut them out and glued them to the cookie container!

Christmas Ornament....

Winter Wonderland has a challenge to make "Christmas Decorations". So when I was out at Michaels a couple of weeks ago I spotted these ornaments that had nothing on them and decided to stamp an image on them and colour them with some paints and of course some glitter.

I had this little box too that I stamped and then coloured the image with prisma pencil crayons. I thought this might be a nice hostess gift for someone!

It won't be long now and the kids will really be enjoying outdoor activities like these two! I had to colour up this MoManning image..I just love the look on the little dogs face...he

looks like he is hanging on for dear life! I used prismas pencil crayons and then I used white embossing powder to make the snow, I also added some glitter to the snow.

I just love BoBunny paper and bought up quite a bit of it to make Christmas cards!

Winter Lantern....

Over at the Winter Wonderland blog they have a challenge for us that is right up my alley...Winter Sports ! I am a total sports fanatic...I love hockey, figure skating, skiing, actually just about any sport! So when I saw this challenge....I thought it was just perfect to bring Tilda out to play!
Norma has this wonderful Winter Lantern tutorial on her blog that I followed and found so fun to do! If you have not seen her Lantern, you are in for a treat, so be sure to check her's out here!

For my icicles I didn't have the Martha Stewart punch so I had to draw them by hand first and then cut them out. I then added LOTS of glitter. I added liquid applique and glitter for snow. You should have seen my craft room...glitter everywhere!

I hope you have a chance to make one of these...they really are fun to do!

Another Christmas card.....

I find myself so busy these days, and I want to get a head start on those Christmas cards, tags and gifts! A couple of weeks ago I was at an all day crop and was able to use my distress inks to do up this rather simple card.I am trying to keep the Christmas cards fairly simple, as it just gets so expensive to mail if there are alot of embellishments!

I have so admired Dena's ability to use the distress inks so well...so I have been on a mission to try and master them. I really love the distress inks, quite easy to play with! I also placed lots of glitter on her hat and trim.....

I am hoping the next couple of days to get cracking on some holiday happenings here on the blog! I am going to enter this card into the challenge over at Lady Bug Crafts....the challenge is...Christmas Sparkle! Thank-you Lisa for letting me know all about this challenge!

My daughter is flying off to Florida for a couple of weeks with a good friend of hers, and is staying with the friends grandma. So I wanted to make a little something for her to take with her just to say thank-you so much for having her! I have seen my blogging buddy Dawn make these gorgeous little fabric apples and wanted to have a go.

I used some of the fabric that I used for my apple, for the ribbon,and sewed it up with a piece of lace to it as well. I used one of my favourite stamps from Karen Lockharts collection over at Ellen Hutson's site. I coloured it up with copics.

Dawn I have to thank-you for inspiring me again....

Snowman Galore....

Another beauty day ahead...I wish our whole winter would just stay like this...no snow, no below 0 temperatures! I do have to admit, I have a true love of snowman stamps! So out came another snowman image to do this card!

I found this pattern for making these little fabric boxes and thought I would try it out and make a tissue box holder for the holidays. The pattern can be found here!

Christmas Tag.....

I so apologize with the lack of posts this week...things have been a little hectic. The weather has been fantastic, lots of bright sunshine, and actually some warmer temperatures....not bathing suit weather but nice fall weather! I am really starting to think Christmas....I needed some Christmas gift tags for the kids this year.....and this is what I came up with!

I cut a piece of cardstock11 x 2 3/4 and scored in two spots, the 1inch mark and the six inch mark, then fold. Glue ribbon on the top of the outside of the tag. Cut a piece of paper for the background so it covers your ribbon. Glue your image to the front and then decorate the inside.
I cut out a snowman from the snowman paper that I used for the front! I like the idea that I can write something with my white gel pen in the inside!

Sleigh Ride.....Slider Card!

We woke up this morning with a slight dusting of snow on the ground. I am sooo not ready for winter. Soon the kids will be able to play in it, that is for sure! Just like these two! I wanted to do a slider card for some time now, so last night I sat down and just played and figured out my way of what I think is a slider card. Lol.

I wanted to create a little wintery neighbourhood scene after the first snowfall. I had this stamp set from Sunshine Designs that had 4 houses in the package. So I stamped 3 of my favourite houses in the background and took a black marker to make the hill joining all 3 houses. Coloured with copics to create a glowing background....used lots of glitter...and liquid applique to create the snowfall! The couple on the sled is an old Elzybells stamp I bought a couple of years ago.

When you pull on the snowman tab it makes the couple slide across the snow!

Snowman and Snowflakes....

The theme for this month over at Sir Stamp Alots Challenge Blog is: Christmas Traditions! I just love this theme. My Christmas tradition is to make Christmas cookies and package them all up and share them with family!

For my card and for my gift bag I made these little jingle bells. I had bought them in gold and silver at our local Walmart store in the craft section.I then spray painted them with ivory spray paint, let them dry, then apply craft glue with a paint brush, sprinkle lots of glitter on them and let them dry over night!

I found this wonderful and fun Vanilla snowflake cake that I am going to make and I wanted to share it with you! I had to make a recipe card for it as I know this is going to be a hit in our house!
Bake at 350 oven.

Prepare cake batter and bake as directed on package for 2 round layers. Blending 1 pkg. dry pudding mix into batter. Bake. Cool and remove from pans.

Draw snowflake shapes on paper. Melt chocolate and spoon into small resealable plastic bag, cut

small corner off bottom of bag. Trace over snowflake patterns with chocolate.Make 35 snowflakes.Freeze 10 min.

Beat remaining dry pudding mix, sugar and milk in large bowl with wisk.Stir in cool whip. Place 1 cake layer on plate and spread with jam, then 1/3 of the pudding mixture. Cover with remaining cake layer. Frost top and side of cake with remaining pudding mixture.Decorate with chocolate snowflakes. Keep refrigerated!

Recipe card.....

Today is take your kids to work day....so Justin and I were up bright and early..yep 4:30 in the morning to meet up with a friend who is a firefighter and had offered to take Justin and his son to work with him this morning. So last night I made chocolate chip muffins for us to grab this morning along with some pancakes I whipped up this morning. It is going to be a long day for them...but extremely fun. Apparently they make it a fantastic day for all the kids....my son has mentioned he might like to be a firefighter...now I think the getting up at 4:30 might not be to his liking!LOL

I find this recipe really a nice one to make. Breanne and Justin really like to grab these after school or first thing in the morning as they are always eating!! Do your kids eat and eat!!

As you know I have been trying to get my recipe booklet nicely organized with all my favourite recipes. So once again, I did make a recipe card. I will be sharing a recipe card with you in the near future....oh boy...it is called Vanilla Snowflake Cake....Wonderful for the holidays! You will just love it.I found it in the Whats Cooking Magazine. So stayed tuned!

Time to turn the calendar page to November.....
I watercoloured this little cutie with distress inks and then cut her all out to place her on some wonderful Bo Bunny paper that had these wonderful snowflakes all over it!

My hubby made me this wonderful oak calendar stand.....and now I get to play each month making a new calendar page!

lots of glittery things...

I think I am just a little early with my background idea of snowman! But it is sooo cold outside that it has totally got me thinking winter! I am not a winter person at all...I like the warm sunny days of summer.....

On the weekend I attended a crop day down at Pointers which is a wonderful scrapbooking store located in Markham, Ontario. The ladies there are all so wonderful...so full of inspiration. It really gets you into the creative mood. Nicky is one of the ladies there that teaches you how to make the most beautiful cards....that women has so many amazing ideas to share. I must thank her for sharing this glittery idea! She was teaching a class when I saw she had a card there I had to try...she graciously gave me all her tips and I was off to make these Christmas cards!

The background was just run thru the swiss dots embossing folder. The stamp is then stamped on wonderful copic paper using a beautiful shade of blue,then you place this adhesive strip across the image which is sticky on both sides. You remove the top part of the adhesive and apply glitter...and there you have a winter wonderland!

So who can stop at that...I had to make some Christmas tags too.....

Fabric Pumpkins for my mantel.....

All summer long my husband has been working on building an addition onto our house. We built our house 15 years ago and we both felt it was time to change things up a little, by taking walls out, make the family room larger with a stone fireplace with a wonderful mantel. Now the fireplace and mantel have not been completed but it definetly is in the works. I have a vision but it takes time....

I saw these adorable fabric pumpkins on Dawn's blog and I knew I had to give it a try! She provided a link to Amy's blog over at The Idea Room which provides you with the best tutorial on how to make these charming little pumpkins. I can just picture these little cuties sitting on my mantel for Halloween!

This is what I enjoy so much about blogging....the inspiration out there is endless!

Happy Holidays-Mini Easel Card...

I was so inspired to make this card when I saw Norma's card a couple of days ago! She did a wonderful step-by-step tutorial which you can see HERE! What I just loved was the little circle in the middle to write what ever personal message you like. Now my only challenge was that I do not own any scallop circle dies, so I had to use my scallop scissors to get the effect that I wanted. I used one of my favourite LOTV images and stamped it onto watercolour paper so I could use Distress inks. I also added lots of glitter for her hat, trim and for the snow!

The pearl you see is one that Danielle sent me a few weeks ago....thank-you so much Danielle! The snowflakes around the edge was a Martha Stewart snowflake punch. I really hope you get a chance to try this out.....they are rather addicting to make, and not hard at all. With Norma's wonderful pictures of her steps she took to make these it really makes it alot easier!
